I wanted to cover some of the escape rooms I’ve done that are no longer with us, somewhat in the style of Extinct Hockey.

First up is the first escape room I ever did, Mysterious Room at Quadra Escape back in October of 2016. I went with my group at work as a team-building exercise. Today it would be considered a laughably bad room but I enjoyed a lot of it.

I don’t remember a lot of details. Things that stick in my memory are:

  • There was no decoration; it was a standard Silicon Valley office with puzzles.
  • the GM who sat with us in the room but mostly didn’t interact with us.
  • It had a logic puzzle, which I did not like then and still do not like now.
  • It had a false-bottomed drawer, which I did like and still do.

It must not have made a huge impression, as I didn’t do another room for almost a year.
